Do I receive a certificate after the German intensive course?
Yes. If you have attended at least 80% of the planned lesson units, you receive a certificate of participation after the course for the German intensive course you completed.
At a glance
The certificate of participation documents the course you completed.
It clearly shows which German intensive course you attended and to what extent.
Course level or module
For example A1, A2, B1.1, B1.2, B2.1, B2.2, C1.1 or C1.2.
Course period
The period of the completed intensive course is stated on the certificate.
Lesson scope
The number of lesson units in the booked course is documented. One lesson unit is 45 minutes.
Why at least 80% attendance?
The certificate of participation should show that the course was not only booked but actually attended regularly. It is therefore issued from at least 80% attendance of the planned lesson units.
A certificate of participation and an official language certificate are not the same thing.
The certificate of participation confirms your course attendance. An official language certificate is obtained only by taking an external exam with a recognised exam provider.
Certificate of participation
Confirms the course, period, lesson scope and required attendance. It is issued after the completed intensive course.
Official language certificate
Issued by the relevant exam provider or examination centre after a separately booked and passed official exam.
Employers can also clearly see the course attendance.
If a company finances a German course for employees, the certificate of participation can be used after the course as a clear record of the completed course and its scope.

Does the certificate of participation replace telc or Goethe?
No. It confirms course attendance. For an official language certificate, you need to take the corresponding telc or Goethe exam separately.
